Answers

I have XYZ (your reader's name here) fingerprint reader. Can I use it with Fingerprint SDK?

A list of supported fingerprint readers is available on the Fingerprint SDK page.
If XYZ reader is not listed in none of those lists, you need to integrate fingerprint reader SDK with Fingerprint SDK on your own. For most fingerprint readers this is possible and quite easy.

What are the available editions and license modes?

Check it at Fingerprint SDK page

I'm a developer and I want to integrate Fingerprint SDK into an application to be made available for clients. Which license mode is best suited for me?

We have two options for developers:

  1. Purchase a Fingerprint SDK Single Computer license for every machine that will have Fingerprint SDK installed.
  2. Purchase a Fingerprint SDK Integrator license, that will allow you to install Fingerprint SDK in many machines.

Besides these two options, you can also choose between Identification and Verification.

Which database does Fingerprint SDK use?

Fingerprint SDK doesn't use a database. The information generated by Fingerprint SDK must be saved by the application developer in the database of his choice.
Note Desktop Identity and Desktop Login, that are complete application for end-users, use MS Access.

Is there any limit on the number of enrolled fingerprints?

The SDK has no limitations, in both editions (Verification and Identification). The only limitation is the software performance for big databases. If you have more than 35.000 enrolled fingerprints, for instance, Identification edition will take more than one second to make the identification. Again, see the resources table on the Fingerprint SDK page.

I'm having trouble installing the software

Before installing Fingerprint SDK you must remove any other installed version, like GrFinger 4.2.

How do I install Fingerprint SDK with the Single Computer or Integrator licenses?

After you download the license from your account, you have to copy it to one of the following folders:

  • If you are using Desktop Identity or Desktop Login, copy the license file to c:\Program Files\Griaule\GrFinger Desktop Identity 1.0\bin. (the name of the folder may be different depending upon your operating system and language)
  • If you are going to deploy Fingerprint SDK with an application you developed, copy the license file to the application folder.
  • If you are programming and debugging the software, copy the file to the folder c:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Griaule\ (with Windows XP/2003/2000), c:\Windows\All Users\Application Data\Griaule\ (with Windows 98/Me) or c:\WINNT\Profiles\All Users\Application Data\Griaule\ (with Windows NT). The name of the folder "Application Data" may be different depending upon the language.

I want to become a distributor, what should I do?
